Safaricom MTN Tranche 1 Oversubscribed
Safaricom’s Tranche 1 Note offer saw a remarkable 275.7% oversubscription, receiving KES 41.4 billion in applications against a KES 15 billion target. The company exercised its KES 5 billion greenshoe, raising the total allotment to KES 20 billion.

Re-opened Government Bonds
The government is seeking to raise KES 60 billion through the reopened 20-year (FXD1/2019/020) and 25-year (FXD1/2022/025) bonds. The bonds offer coupon rates of 12.8730% and 14.1880%, respectively, with bids due by Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EAT.
CBK is also inviting investors to switch holdings from Treasury Bond FXD1/2016/010 to the reopened FXD1/2022/015. Bids are due Monday, January 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EAT.

CBK Cuts Rates Again
The Central Bank of Kenya reduced the Central Bank Rate by 25 basis points to 9.00%, marking the ninth consecutive reduction.

Centum Announces Dollar I-REIT
Centum plans Kenya’s first dollar-denominated I-REIT, targeting $37 million (KES 4.78 billion) for green commercial developments.
