#KnowledgeSeries: Managing Money as a Business Owner
This week, we partnered with Safaricom PLC for an X Space focused on helping business owners manage their money better.

Here are the key takeaways:
- It’s not humility to not take care of yourself! You still need to pay yourself a salary even as the business owner because you also have your own personal needs you need to cater to.
- You cannot take care of your business if you can not take care of yourself. So, always ensure you are also paying yourself as a business owner.
- Define your ‘broke’ amount even as a business. This means having a bare minimum amount threshold that lets you know you are broke as a business.
- Source of capital is very key, but sometimes you also need to check the expense of the capital. Many businesses have collapsed due to too much debt.
Treasury Bill Demand Remains Strong
Treasury Bills were oversubscribed this week at 152.57%, with the Government raising Ksh 42.69 billion against the Ksh 28 billion offered.
The 364-day Treasury Bill recorded a weighted average interest rate of 9.0566%, continuing to offer investors a return above the 9% mark.

Government Raises Ksh 50.18 Billion Through Treasury Bonds
The Government raised Ksh 50.18 billion through the reopened 20-year and 30-year Treasury Bonds.
The papers carry coupon rates of 12.873% and 12.5%, respectively.
