Kenya’s Inflation Rises to 6.8%
Kenya’s annual inflation rose to 6.8% in September 2026, up from 6.6% in August, as higher food, transport and household energy costs continued to put pressure on consumers.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded inflation of 9.5%, while transport costs rose by 15.6% over the year.
The latest figures highlight the continued pressure on household purchasing power as the cost of essential goods and services remains elevated.
SACCO Deposits Rise to Ksh 832.8 Billion


The SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) has released its 2025 SACCO Supervision Annual Report, highlighting continued growth across Kenya’s regulated SACCO sector.
Total deposits increased to Ksh 832.8 billion in 2025, up from Ksh 749.4 billion in 2024.
Regulated SACCOs served 7.87 million members and held total assets of approximately Ksh 1.21 trillion, underlining the scale of the cooperative financial sector in Kenya.
WPP Scangroup Announces Finance Leadership Changes

Listed advertising and communications company WPP Scangroup Plc has announced changes to its senior finance leadership.
Alexander Muasya has been appointed Acting Group Finance Director effective 1 October 2026.
The appointment follows the announcement that current CFO Sanjeev Panwar will leave the company at the end of the year after 18 years with Scangroup.
Umeme Revenue Drops Following Concession Expiry

Cross-listed power distributor Umeme Limited has released its unaudited results for the six months ended June 2026.
The company reported revenue of Ushs 4 million, down sharply from Ushs 503.5 billion in the same period last year, following the expiry of its 20-year electricity distribution concession in March 2025.
Umeme posted a net loss of Ushs 21.9 billion, an improvement from the Ushs 166.7 billion loss recorded in H1 2025, as operating and finance costs declined significantly.
Safaricom and Pesapal Expand M-PESA Payment Options

Safaricom and Pesapal are expanding M-PESA payment options through new Dynamic Scan-to-Pay and Tap-to-Pay features on Pesapal POS devices.
The partnership also comes alongside Safaricom’s AI Pay feature on My OneApp.
Scan-to-Pay is already available at more than 60,000 merchant outlets, with a target of reaching 500,000 outlets within the next year, pointing to continued growth in digital payments and merchant technology in Kenya.
Treasury Bill Rates Edge Lower

Kenya’s latest Treasury Bill auction attracted Ksh 47.72 billion in bids against Ksh 28 billion on offer.
The CBK accepted Ksh 41.20 billion, with weighted average rates coming in at:
- 91-day: 8.77%
- 182-day: 8.89%
- 364-day: 9.04%
All three rates edged lower compared with the previous auction.
CBK Licenses 29 More Digital Credit Providers

The Central Bank of Kenya has licensed an additional 29 Digital Credit Providers (DCPs), bringing the total number of licensed DCPs to 281.
The latest licensing round follows more than 900 applications received since March 2022, as CBK continues efforts to bring digital lenders under regulatory oversight.
NCBA-KMI Motor Show Returns

The Kenya Motor Industry Association (KMI) has officially set the wheels in motion for the NCBA-KMI Motor Show 2026.
The event is scheduled for 27th–29th November 2026 at Sarit Expo Centre, Nairobi.
Returning after a four-year hiatus, the Motor Show will provide a platform for industry engagement, product showcases and conversations around the future of mobility in Kenya.
